Finance Calculators

Understand what a loan really costs, how long savings could last, and what a road trip will spend on fuel. These calculators use standard amortization and compound-growth formulas and show full schedules so you can follow every number.

Results are illustrations based on the assumptions you enter. They are not financial advice, and actual lender terms, taxes and market returns will differ.

How loan payments are calculated

Fixed-rate installment loans use the standard amortization formula: each payment covers that month's interest first, and the rest reduces the balance. Early payments are mostly interest; later payments are mostly principal. Our loan tools show the full month-by-month schedule.

Projections depend on assumptions

Retirement and savings projections assume a constant rate of return and inflation. Real markets vary from year to year, and the order of returns matters when you are withdrawing money. Treat these results as a way to compare scenarios, not as a forecast.

Every calculator is tested against independently worked answers. See our methodology.
